15+ years of experience and know-how.

Millions raised for Seattle area non-profits.

Non-profits are the backbone of the community, and donors are the backbone of non-profits. Too often, organizations understand their community, but don’t spend nearly enough time understanding their donors, and when it comes to donors, a little bit goes a long way. Working with me, you will find that all of the support you need for your organization is right at your fingertips. After all, we’re in the great city of Seattle, where there are passionate people all around us. I can help you unlock this special resource.

I think of myself as an equal opportunity non-profit lover. It takes a village of organizations to meet the changing needs of any community and I want each one to be as healthy and prosperous as the next. By helping non-profits raise funds, I am helping build a web of support for a thriving, purposeful community, and this is what I’m all about. Fundraising is not a dirty word. It is not begging or pleading. Fundraising is connecting good organizations with good people to get real things done. When it’s done well, it’s transformational, and it truly makes dreams come true.

I came to the world of fundraising as an idealistic college student, working for social justice organizations fighting for health care reform and women’s rights. Immediately I learned that not everyone likes asking for money, and not everyone is good at it. Maybe it was selling Girl Scout cookies as a youngster, or spending so much time on stage, but for me it wasn’t a problem. I could even say I liked it. In college, I spent much of my time at a small, non-profit arts organization, Northwest Choirs, where I taught kids how to sing and understand music theory while working as the primary admin staff. Developing from an entry-level position to Administrative Director by my late 20’s, I honed many valuable skills that still come in handy today. During this time, I supported all of the choir’s fundraising efforts, but it wasn’t until I completed the UW Fundraising Certificate Program in 2010, that I recognized myself as a blossoming development professional. In 2010 I took up post as the Development Director at the U District YMCA, where I had the privilege to lead the charge of 200 volunteers, board members, and staff, doubling annual fundraising efforts over the course of four years. This experience solidified for me that there’s nothing I love more than rallying around a cause, believing in and learning from others, and watching groups of people, driven by heart, achieve great things. It is awe-inspiring.

After experiencing such success in my work, and in the spirit of broadening my contribution, I decided to break out on my own and form TK Consulting. Now I can do the things I love, for many. From planning events, to board development, to designing stewardship programs, I can have a deeper impact. I imagine myself as a hummingbird, moving from non-profit to non-profit, providing exactly what is needed, whether it be for an hour, a day, or a season.

For a flavor of what it’s like to work with me, I encourage you to read a few testimonials. I have been described as tenacious, enthusiastic, bold, steady, and organized. I have also been told that I have a knack for setting people at ease in an instant.

Choose me for your project and I can promise that you won’t be disappointed.

Let’s do something great together!

P.S. My name is tricky to pronounce but this should help: Tavia (Tay-vee-ah). Good luck.
